Mr. Lie Yongtong (Lie Zilong) is a famous diving photographer in Hong Kong and one of the pioneers of deep-sea photography in China. His 30 years of splendid trajectory in dealing with the deep sea deeply portrays the outline of an envoy who conserves underwater ecological resources. He is close to the ocean and is obsessed with deep-sea photography. He has photographed the beautiful and magnificent marine life in his essays, and published "How Much Do You Know About Marine Life in the Blue Sea Eden", which has unveiled the beauty and magic of the ocean world for citizens; He founded the Underwater Ecological Resources Conservation Fund and called on the people to strengthen the awareness of marine conservation and strive to cultivate more outstanding professionals in the marine conservation sector. He said: "The most important thing in a person's life is not to have regrets." On the road of acting as an envoy of ocean conservation, he is obliged to move forward with no regrets or regrets!
Inborn love for the ocean
Dr. Lie Yongtong’s identities are diverse, and in conversation, the topic he is most willing to talk to is the story that happened between him and the ocean. He is an international diving instructor, an international nitrox diving instructor, an international marine underwater ecological photography instructor, an American EFR emergency first-response first aid instructor, and a snorkeling instructor of the Hong Kong Snorkeling Association. Each identity is related to the ocean and the ideal of young people. , Is related to his current and future work.
Since childhood, Dr. Yongtong Lie grew up in Hong Kong. The turbulent and volatile sea surface is the most memorable picture in his youth, and for him, who is very curious about the deep sea, what kind of world is in the deep sea. ? How mysterious and vast? With the desire and yearning of his youth, to find out what he wanted to do most. At the age of 19, this dream finally became a reality by purchasing various diving equipment and learning diving skills under his frugality.
When he dived into the bottom of the sea for the first time, Dr. Yongtong Lie was immediately stunned by what he saw with his own eyes. What a strange world it was: colorful coral reefs, seaweeds in various poses, all kinds of naive marine creatures, and all kinds of mysterious A colorful world, such as underwater wonders, appeared before his eyes, "Standing on the land and observing the ocean is never possible to imagine the magnificence and strangeness of the underwater world. Only by seeing those breathtaking sights with your own eyes will the ocean no longer exist. It's a dead silence, but a splendid life." From then on, he had the idea to photograph the underwater world and share it with everyone.
Since 1979, while Dr. Lei Yongtong likes to dive, he also took up a camera to record what he saw and heard on the seabed. For more than 30 years, his diving footprints and his hands have covered the coastal waters of China, the coast of Japan, and the Philippines. , Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, Fiji, the Arctic and other deep oceans have accumulated tens of thousands of exquisite pictures, showing people the unique brilliant colors of the ocean, beyond people’s imagination.
Conservation of underwater ecological resources is obligatory
There is an article that evaluates Dr. Yongtong Lie. If people can be distinguished by color, there is no doubt that Dr. Yongtong Lie is a blue ocean blue. Of course, it is not because of his skin color, but because of what he did to preserve underwater ecology. The work of resources has an inseparable relationship with the ocean.
Dr. Lie Yongtong is fascinated by deep-sea photography, pursuing a beautiful lens language to show the world the mysterious temperament and unique charm of the sea. More than 30 years ago, the field of deep-sea photography was dominated by Western developed countries. Dr. Yongtong Lie made unremitting efforts to become one of the few Chinese deep-sea photographers who independently accomplished the feat of ocean photography in the Arctic Circle, giving China a place. , It is really a relief for the Chinese people. However, for Dr. Yu Lie Yongtong, this is not what he values. His mind is full of the burden of how to conserve underwater ecological resources.
In recent years, the marine ecology has been severely damaged, and it has become a matter of urgency. Dr. Yongtong Lie compared the changes in the ocean decades ago. “Take the waters around Hong Kong as an example. When I first learned to dive and shoot, the underwater world there was pleasing to the eye and lingering, but now it’s not what it used to be. Living creatures are almost extinct, and many have even become extinct. People don’t know that the detergent used in daily life injected into the sea will affect the growth of plankton, and even directly kill plankton. In addition, many plastic bags and other garbage are dumped in the sea. Into the sea, after being eaten by a turtle, it will hinder the turtle's digestion and make it float on the water and die slowly."
What Dr. Leyongtong listed is only one aspect of the serious pollution of the ocean. In fact, with the development of the ocean, the phenomenon of ocean pollution has become more and more serious: the seaweed on the coast of North Brittany in France is infested, and Costa Rica The large-scale outbreak of seaweed near the Pacific coast, the bleaching of coral reefs in Sumatra, and the United Nations Environment Programme have warned that by 2050, the marine productivity of the region known as the "ocean desert" (the least productive region in the world) will drop significantly. Signs indicate: the protection of the ocean has reached the point of urgency!
"I don't want to be a bystander, I hope to do my best, take the lead, and attract others." Dr. Lie Yongtong and a group of people with strong environmental awareness stood up and made a resounding voice: Conserving the ocean is the mission of mankind!
In order to realize the lofty ideal of saving the ocean from the grassroots level and promote the conservation of underwater ecological resources, Dr. Yongtong Lie established: Underwater Ecological Resources Conservation Fund-dedicated to let the public know about underwater ecological resources through different channels to arouse everyone Concern, attention, response and support for marine conservation. The fund focuses on education, organizes large-scale marine and underwater biological photography exhibitions and special lectures, and regularly runs marine conservation certificate courses; it also sets up scholarships to cultivate more outstanding marine biologists and marine environmental conservation experts; In addition, the book "How Much Do You Know About the Exploration of Marine Life in the Blue Sea Eden" is a collection of exquisite deep-sea photography works, recording a variety of precious marine life, not only exhaustive details, vivid colors, but also vivid, to the world Shows a colorful and wonderful marine life group. "The photo collection is a charity sale, and all the funds raised are donated to the foundation to promote the conservation of marine and underwater ecological resources and related education work in Hong Kong and the Mainland."
"I hope that in our lifetime, we can see that our citizens have environmental awareness and know how to conserve the ocean and protect nature." Dr. Lie Yongtong’s approach has been echoed by many environmentalists, and Meng Zhaocheng, executive chairman of the China Ocean Photography Association, is here to help. The preface of the photo collection said: “This is a good opportunity to promote deep-sea photography, marine culture, and marine knowledge. It is the mission of our marine workers to let more people recognize the ocean!" Under the action, their footsteps in conserving the ocean will become more firm, steady and steadfast!
Pay attention to the development of education and devote enthusiasm
In paying attention to marine conservation, Dr. Lie Yongtong’s unique color is a touch of ocean blue, and he who is enthusiastic about charity does not lack that warm red of love.
Dr. Lie Yongtong is a member of the Hong Kong Anti-drug Youth League Committee and is very concerned about the problem of youth drug abuse. “Many young people are confused, have no goals, and no direction.” However, he believes that education can change a person, especially young people. "At present, the Underwater Ecological Resources Conservation Fund also has a project to help prevent young people from taking drugs, allowing them to receive training in marine conservation courses, and special scholarships are provided to welcome them to work in marine conservation in the future. In the training process, it is important What is to make them know themselves and find their purpose in life."
Although Dr. Lie Yongtong is well-known in the diving field, he is actually a successful entrepreneur, owning Yongtongyu International Co., Ltd., Tongyu Trade Development Co., Ltd., Yuwang Enterprise Co., Ltd., and Yangxintang Holdings Co., Ltd. The company, Hong Kong Yilifa Co., Ltd., has outstanding achievements in cloth, fashion, etc. This is also the basis for his various social work.
When it comes to supporting education, Dr. Yongtong Lie, who is the president of the Hong Kong Lions Clubs Asia (2011-2012), is even more familiar with the road. "In the past few years, we have donated and built nine projects in Dali, Yunnan and other places. Home school. I came to know how dilapidated the schools in those backward areas are, but our strength alone is not enough. We hope that more people can join in.” This enthusiastic social service person said to the ocean. Infatuation, full support for education, everything comes from his casual personality, pursuit without regret, and noble personal cultivation.
He said, "The most important thing in a person's life is not to have regrets. I like life in nature. I like diving, deep-sea photography, establishing an underwater ecological resource conservation fund, going to the mainland to donate to school, etc., all of which follow my heart. What to do, all of this, only to have no regrets in this life. Life is alive, rich and poor, and diving into the sea, you need to breathe together. "Understanding the original nature of life, is the sea taught him the original nature of life? Or did he penetrate the vast expanse of the sea? But what is important is that Dr. Lie Yongtong has completely lived out himself, and he is worthy of being an envoy of ocean conservation!
